Failed to see Leopard again, for me Yala is a bit over-hyped and is too busy for its own good.
After a late breakfast it was the road again for us and an overnight stay at Kalus hideaway a hotel owned by Kumar Sangakarra the cricketer, needless to say he wasn`t there. The afternoon was spent at UDA WALAWE N.P. one of the best places to see elephants in Sri Lanka.

After checking out we left for the rain forest at Sinharaja calling at the elephant transit home on the way, here they look after orphaned or lost young elephants until old enough to go back into the reserve. We watched them being fed and bathing which was quite amusing but the best was finding these scops owls

The next two nights were spent at the ECO LODGE FOREST RESERVE at SINHARAJA staying in a converted shipping container that was red hot by day and cool to say the least at night.

PITCHER PLANT-I got a leech up my trouser leg in the forest and when I got back to the container there was blood gushing from a tiny hole in my right calf, they have an anti coagulant in their bite, however my first aid training kicked in and rest elevation and poressure plus a Lion beer eventually saved the day and my leg. Before that this CEYLON BLUE MAGPIE showed briefly before heading back into the forest.
