June, most of the summer migrants have arrived and paired up,the need to sing and display is diminished for a while and so become more difficult to see.

When I started birdwatching back in the late sixties this was a common bird that would turn up regular as clockwork on May 1st now it is increasingly difficult to find, but I understand they are still doing ok further north as other species are doing too.
