PYRAMIDAL ORCHIDS AT THE HOE.
Wednesday took me first to Park Gate Down where the Musk Orchids are in bloom, they are comparatively small and greenish yellow ,I missed them on my first circuit but having got directions via mobile phone, what would we do without them?,found them on the second .
MUSK ORCHIDS.
The site is covered with fragrant, common spotted and pyramid orchids as well, it really is a picture
From here I made my way to Ham Street hoping that the Silver washed fritillary may have emerged, amazingly one was spotted immediately but it disappeared just as quickly out of view.
Another or perhaps the same individual was soon located and was followed on his patrol around his territory in the hope that it would settle long enough to get a picture, eventually a few shots were taken ,but he was continually on the move and led a running battle with a comma and anything else that came near.
SILVER WASHED FRITILLARY,the silver wash is on the underwing.
S.W.F not perfect pics will try harder next week.
COMMA
It was such a perfect afternoon by now that I went the long way home via Capel to take in the view across to France where a perfect cumulo nimbus was building.
We like to go to the Coastguard on such evenings to sit and watch the channel with a cold beer in hand.
THE COASTGUARD
I hope they cut the vegetation in front of the terrace down soon or these views will be obscured completely..
