BUFF BREASTS AND LITTLE GULLS

Been home for over a week now and there`s a few things to report, ring ouzels in Langdon Hole, buff breasted sandpipers at Scotney and loads of sea birds at Dungeness.Thursday morning early start for Scotney where the BBSwere found among a largish flock of golden plovers.Over to the patch at Dunge where there were little gulls, black, common arctic and sandwich terns, arctic skuas and mediterranean gulls, also the sad sight of a dead gannet strangled, starved ,and drowned by discarded fishing net, fishermen take your old gear home and dispose of it safely, not in the sea.Meadow pipits pied wagtails and wheatears were found near the old lighthouse, and a black throated diver on the ARC pits was a bonus. The RSPB reserve was crammed with punters so it was just a quick stroll round without going into a single hide,a late whinchat was the pick.Back to the point where more little gulls and skuas were found.

SUNSET OVER KEARSNEY
A foggy Bockhill on friday gave Paul Holts ears a good workout,he can hear birds calling from the French coast I swear, amazing, best birds were firecrest goldcrest, redstart and brambling, this didn`t make up for missing the bluethroat earlier in the week though ,well done Mr Morris. After dipping the bluethroat the sun went down in a blaze of glory to compensate in a small way.
