PIPERS OUZEL`N OWLS

A few from another day out in Margate, there was no sign of the diver in its favoured spots, but the waders in Margate Harbour provided an interesting diversion.
 PURPLE SANDPIPERS ON THE PIER.

SANDERLING about 80 of these were feeding in the harbour as the tide came in.
Sanderlings are almost perpetually on the move.

This Sanderling was ringed on Orkney in May 2016 as a 4 year old presumably on its northward migration.
Meanwhile back at Samphire Hoe I was lucky enough to get as close to a male RING OUZEL as you can hope to do without a hide.

The Female TEAL was still on the ponds at the Hoe last week.
The Jack Snipes were still at Restharrow Scrape, but no closer unfortunately.

There now follows a sequence of SHORT EARED OWL shots taken along the Ancient Highway this week.
SITTING IN THE LATE AFTERNOON SUN.

 BACK TO THE POST.
And to end a few GANNET shots from Samphire Hoe this morning, there were lots of GANNETS MED GULLS,COMMON GULLS and KITTIWAKES on the sea this morning,I guess there was a Herring shoal nearby.
