On thursday evening Pete Wells and myself took a sundowner stroll along the Lampen wall at Stodmarsh,it was wonderful,we had the place all to our selves and were treated to a feast of birds at evensong.Song thrush and blackbird, blackcap and garden warbler, turtle dove and cuckoo and as dusk gathered the nightingale topped the bill.

SUNSET AT STODMARSH
As we turned back for the car a barn owl hunting over the reed bed was just about the perfect ending, apart from a pint of Harveys in the Duke William at Ickham, highly reccomended!
Next morning I returned to attempt some better hobby shots, but failed miserably as they were flying too high but they were good to watch anyway.More cuckoos were seen and two willow warblers were singing along the river.
