BROAD LEAVED HELLEBORINES.are in bloom in Kingston near Canterbury.

Last friday went to Sheffield Park in Sussex, making use of my NT membership, very nice gardens by Capability Brown,,not much wildlife in evidence though
SHEFFIELD PARK GARDENS
SMALL RED EYED DAMSELFLY were quite numerous.

Couldn`t resist a quick look at the bluebell railway, well its right next door.
Only these two old tank engines were on duty, the carriages used to be on the metropolitan line in London in 1910 evidently, they were quite plush in comparison to the old SR coaches.

We then spent a pleasant hour in Fletching, famous for its church, where Simon de Montfort prayed before the Battle of Lewes in1264 and the pub The Griffin, where the ex landlady is buried in the pub garden, very nice pint of Harveys Best by the way.

700TH ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL

From Fletching to Hastings took an eternity, but the fish &chips were worth the wait.
