THE JUNE LULL

June is the month when migrants are here, nesting and keeping a relatively low profile,so other things have to fill the void until the return migration begins in mid July.
Here are a few photos of my month so far.

 THE FIGURE OF 8 ON THE HINDWING IS DIAGNOSTIC.


 THE FIRST PAINTED LADIES ARE ARRIVING ,COULD BE A GOOD YEAR FOR THEM.


A trip to Challock to see the Nightjars was successful,at 9.32 the first" churring" started up ,it was the loudest and longest churr I had heard I followed the sound in the coppice  and saw the bird silhouetted against the gloaming,it was pretty dark by now so these photos don't really reflect reality as they have been lightened considerably.
