MARCH 2023

A wet and windy month on the whole with a few good birds to whet the appetite. From the arctic regions a Glaucous Gull has made Shakespeare beach its home and has lingered throughout the month. An influx of Alpine Swifts from southern Europe got the pulse going for a few days. The first Wheatears arrived at Samphire Hoe on the 17 th and the first singing Chiffchaffs have arrived.A young White Tailed Eagle turned up at Dungeness and  nearby the young Scaup has moulted into a fine male. Also the Great Grey Shrike reappeared at Hothfield Common towards the end of the month.
